BiOH polyols are designed to help replace petroleum—the primary ingredient used in making polyurethane foam. BiOH polyols are made from a renewable source: soybean oil. The process begins in the farm field where farmers produce these renewable crops. The soybeans are then sent to crush facilities where they are processed and then to oilseed refineries where they are further refined.

Foams made with bio-based polyols are manufactured the same way as traditional foams, but with a more eco friendly supply chain.

BiOH polyols reduce dependence on crude oil
For every 1 million pounds of BiOH polyols that replace traditional petro polyols in polyurethane foam, approximately 2,200 barrels of crude petroleum is saved for other uses.

BiOH polyols leave a smaller environmental footprint than traditional petroleum-based polyols
A preliminary lifecycle analysis of BiOH polyols compared the raw material and manufacturing processes of BiOH polyols with those of traditional petrochemical polyols. The data indicated that BiOH polyols result in:
* 36% less global warming emissions
* 61% less non-renewable energy use
* 23% less total energy demand
